The Bible says we've become new creations - partakers of the divine nature. We're holy and righteous, and we're full of the unconditional love of God. We've been given a new heart and a new spirit that is in union with and identifies with the Spirit of God. Our lives in Christ are not a matter of trying to attain any of this but rather living from all of this, by the grace of God.
Here's this week's quick GIG-Bite, a quick sample of this week's program.
Hi M & J:
ReplyDeleteRather than a comment this is more like an exam question. In your Living by Grace summary you mention "Our lives in Christ are not a matter of trying to attain any of this but rather living from all of this, by the grace of God." Great, but then I read Rev 3:5 "He who overcomes ..., I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life". Doesn't sound like tons of grace - what up with dat?

Hi Joel:
ReplyDeleteThanks for the input and perspective. Overcome in this passage comes from the root word "nike" which is victory/victorious. I suppose that those wearing Nike runners won't be blotted out of the book of life?
Still think that the last book of the bible causes tension (i.e. misunderstandings on judgement/hell, Oct 31 etc). Maybe some brave soul will one day tackle the book from a total grace perspective. That will definitely settle down some of us with the "grace jitters".
