In Christ, are we merely positionally righteous? Does God need to use a special "lens" in order to see us as righteous, because we're not actually righteous, but are waiting till we get to heaven to be made literally righteous? Or are we literally righteous right now, because God Himself has made us that way? That's what we're discussing this week on Growing in Grace.

Here's this week's GIG-Bite, a quick sample of this week's program.

  1. Great teaching, guys. I would say that Father does see Christ in us and this is why we are righteous; and this is not in disagreement with what you said. Because we have received the Spirit and nature of Jesus Himself, He has become our identity. We are no longer ourselves, but have become Him in spirit and in nature for "he who is joined to the Lord is ONE spirit." [1 Cor. 6:17]

Jesus is the Head of the new creation and we are His body--that is joined to Him, indivisible and inseparable from Him. He became as us so we could become as Him (2 Cor. 5:21; 1 John 4:17). Amen.

  2. oimetLove it.....!
The law corrects behavior in an attempt to create a good person - doesn't work. Just makes a frustrated fallen person.

Grace does not cover a bad person, but infuses the person with the personality of Christ -
Grace create goodness because it is righteousness in Him. Being vs doing!

Law, well, it has to keep working at it!

  3. Great comment, David. Indeed, Jesus didn't just "cover" the sin of a person. He took it away. And He not only forgave the person, but He infused Himself into the life of the person.

    Being vs. Doing. Amen!
