Why would anyone choose to reject the free gift of life through Jesus Christ? There could be any number of reason and we take a look at a few possibilities. Usually it's because they simply haven't really understood the gospel. Perhaps they've heard the wrong message or jumped to the wrong conclusions. They may have pictured God in their minds in a way that is far from what He is really like. The reasons to believe will trump the reasons not to once an individual hears the truth.

I am so glad that you mentioned that you can't mix the law and grace. Sadly, many preachers mix the two and think they are still living in grace. It is either grace or law.
ReplyDeleteI also think many don't receive Him because they teach a potential gospel, meaning that if someone will do this or do that, then God will do this. It is a performance based Gospel, not a finished gospel.
Yep indeed, the "mixture" gospel and the performance-based gospel... are no gospels at all. They are bad news, not good news, because they are dependent upon human performance. Grace mixed with human performance is no longer grace.
DeletetHE COMMON MIS CONCEPTION OR MIS UNDERSTSANDING i HAVE FOUND IS fAITH IS DEAD WITHOUT WORKS.
ReplyDeleteNow this is true, for all the Saints did works, through their faith they did the wroks of God not man.
Works are involved in faith. Works are a by-product of Faith in Christ Jesus. Therefore es is correct but it has nothing to do with a person or persons workng with an ulterior motive that does not have LOVE God's type 1 Cor. 13
Yep Howard, "works" are a result of faith and grace. Works are the fruit, not the root.
DeleteAnd "works" are often misconstrued in the church to mean "works of the law," but in the scriptures the "works" that people did by faith had nothing to do with law. Rahab the harlot hiding the spies, Moses' parents hiding him when he was a baby, the parting of the Red Sea, etc, etc. All of those were things done in faith.
The church would do very well to get off of their performance-based teachings, and law/rules-based teachings, and start lifting up faith and grace!
